Button & Zipper is a coat drive, organized in 2013, to help Chicagoans in need stay warm during our city’s long and grueling winter months. In 2016, we expanded our efforts to Denver.
In our first year, we were fortunate to collect and distribute 845 coats to Chicago’s homeless and at-risk youth. In our second year, we boosted that number to collect and distributed 1,380 coats. Our third year totaled a collection of an astounding 4,319 coats and the fourth year, we exceeded 5,000. We are very excited to how our 5th season will benefit the communities we continue to serve.
During the coldest winter on record in 30 years, our hearts were warmed by the generosity of friends, neighbors and total strangers, who took the time to pull out and donate coats they were no longer using.
We’re looking for men’s, women’s and children’s outerwear. Homelessness is not limited to adults. These items will be distributed to homeless shelters, youth organizations, and individuals on the streets throughout the Chicagoland area this winter.
We are grateful for our Coat Drive Champions for their continued support and assistance!
